What about the History?

The land I call the "Foothill Gems" was once inhabited by the Maidu Native Americans. However, once a man by the name of John Sutter sent a small expedition team out to the Coloma valley, a discovery quickly changed the areas population. James Marshal and "the Mormon boys" were sent to scout out an area for Sutter's saw mill (replica seen in above photo). After displacing the land around the future mill James discovered Gold deposits. In January 1848, James and the Mormon boys reported back to Sutter. The news could not stay quiet. Within a year people from all over the world traveled to the obscure and beautiful Coloma valley. The attraction helped build the state and towns like San Franscico.
