El Dorado County is known to be a conservative county. The last time the county was persuaded to support a Democratic Presidential candidate was in 1964, for Lyndon Johnson. Today, one may find "Tea Party" yard signs picketed on various lawns. However, that is not to say El Dorado County is not tolerant and open to different points of view. One may also find a sort a liberal persuasion on the downtown streets of Placerville.
